
All full moons have many names. On EarthSky Facebook, we heard some of our European friends call the December 16, 2014 full moon a Cold Moon. Another name for it – at least here in the Northern Hemisphere – is Long Night Moon. Ken Christison in northeastern North Carolina called this full moon a Long Night Moon when he posted this photo.
