Our friend Yuri Beletsky, who lives and works in Chile and has taken many wonderful photos of Southern Hemisphere skies, posted this photo at EarthSky Facebook on Monday. Yuri wrote:
Sleeping giants … Those on the foreground are perhaps the most recognizable statues in the world, the enigmatic Moai statues from the Easter Island, located in the Southern Pacific.
Moon and Venus were setting soon after the sunset these days, and I managed to capture such a view: planet, moon, and the giants.
Thank you, Yuri!
