The frigid temperatures enabled Arctic smoke to form off the ocean, making for a beautiful display at sunrise.
Arctic smoke – also called sea smoke or frost smoke – is fog that’s formed when very cold air moves over warmer water. The effect is similar to the “steam” produced over a hot bath or a hot drink, or even an exercising person.
We love your beautiful image Joshua … but here’s hoping the U.S. east coast will feel some warm springtime air before too long!
