Video: Ride with the Cassini spacecraft orbiting Saturn

It’s eight years of time and 200,000 images compressed into 4 minutes of video. An awesome way to experience Cassini’s tour of Saturn.

This beautiful video shows a selection from more than 200,000 pictures taken by NASA’s Cassini as it has orbited in and among Saturn’s rings and moons over the past years. Fabio Di Donato posted it on Vimeo yesterday, as part of the celebration today honoring a new photo of Earth to be taken by Cassini today.

Cassini has been orbiting Saturn since 2004. These images were all acquired between 2005 and 2013. If you want to know more about the Cassini mission please visit saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/.

The video is dedicated to the memory of Margherita Hack, astrophysicist and popular science writer (2013). Fabio wrote:

She made me love the stars

Music Shostakovich – Jazz Suite No.2: VI. Waltz 2 – Armonie Symphony Orchestra (thanks to Erica Alberti for suggestion).

Bottom line: Beautiful video compilation by Fabio Di Donato of Cassini spacecraft images from 2005 to 2013.
