William Miller Sperry Observatory
The William Miller Sperry Observatory is a New Jersey astronomical observatory owned by Union County College and operated by Amateur Astronomers Incorporated, just 21 miles (33 km) west of the world-famous New York City, New York. Home to two of the largest telescopes on the East Coast, the observatory also features monthly meetings where a featured speaker from outside the organization presents a topic of interest in astronomy or a related field, youth group events, and is open to the public every Friday evening throughout the year. On many Fridays, observatory staff conducts an informal talk which is always followed by viewing of celestial objects through the two large telescopes, weather permitting.
