Ocracoke Campground

Ocracoke Campground, a campground is perfect for a beach getaway trip, is located in the famous Outer Banks area off the stunning North Carolina coast, about 195 miles (314 km) southeast of Greenville, North Carolina. Please note that while there are no designated stargazing areas, one EarthSky friend says there is “very little ground light and almost no ground level obstruction. On a clear night with a new moon, you can almost touch the stars!” Additionally, the campground is only open from early April through late November, and accessible only by ferry or aircraft. While developed campsites are offered, the primitive spots are located on sandy soil, so campers are encouraged to bring extra long tent stakes. It’s conveniently located on the ocean side, separated from the beach by barrier dunes. For more information, visit online or call 252-928-6671.
