Belt-Camping-Fehmarn
April 12, 2018
Belt-Camping-Fehmarn is a large campground located in Fehmarn, a German island in the Baltic Sea, off the eastern coast of Schleswig-Holstein. The Fehmarn Sound Bridge (i.e., Fehmarnsundbrücke) connects the island with the German mainland near Großenbrode. In addition to the 260 campsites, condo rooms are also available within the campground. As an ofshore area of Germany the campground enjoys a pristine night sky approaching class 2 in the Bortle scale, making it one of the darkest locations in the country. A friend of EarthSky explained that “at night, the beach is a few feet away and it’s dark enough so that the Milky Way is visible.”
