
No, the sky doesn’t really do this. Ordinary star trails don’t make a spiral pattern, but instead look more like this. We really like this processed photo by Sergio Garcia Rill, though. He captured the original photo in Arches National Park in eastern Utah, then processed it in a way he explains in detail in his blog.
