We heard from many friends in the Philippines that a beautiful lunar halo was shining in yesterday evening’s sky (January 13, 2014). Our friend Jv Noriega in Manila, who has contributed many wonderful photos to EarthSky, posted this shot of last night’s lunar halo enclosing both an airplane in flight and the planet Jupiter.
We’ve seen many lunar halo photos, but none more beautiful than this one! Thank you, Jv!
By the way, Jupiter will be even closer to the moon tonight (January 14), as seen from around the world. Halo or no halo, don’t miss it!
