Neil deGrasse Tyson

Neil deGrasse Tyson is an astrophysicist, author and director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History. Tyson’s professional research interests are broad, but include star formation, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies, and the structure of our Milky Way. Since 2006, he has hosted PBS’s educational television show NOVA scienceNOW. Tyson is the EarthSky Science Communicator of the Year for 2009. He was awarded this honor after EarthSky asked its 600 Global Science Advisors to nominate and vote on which scientists had best communicated with the public about vital science issues or concepts during the previous year.
