Video: The biomechanics of a perfect dive

The individual Olympic springboard and platform diving competitions start today (August 30) and go through August 11.

Just in time, here’s USC scientist Jill McNitt-Gray – who’s helped elite athletes prepare for the Olympics – to explain the biomechanics of the perfect dive.

Professor Jill L. McNitt-Gray, an expert in biomechanics and sports science with the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, has worked with the U.S. Olympic Committee to help American athletes prepare for success at the 2012 London Olympics. Professor McNitt-Gray funded by the National Science Foundation.
