Almost every morning I see a pair of cardinals feeding on our lawn. The male and female behave independently, each looks for food where he/she wants, but they usually fly away together. Yesterday I saw how they suddenly appeared next to each other, and the male fed the female from beak to beak. I read that this is part of their courtship ritual.
There is a joke that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. But in birds just opposite: the man wins the lady by feeding.
