Just dropped the shadows and blacks while preserving the highlights

Image Details:

I went out exploring new spots for me at the Red River Wildlife Preserve. The sun was starting to set behind the trees which led to shadows, around and behind this heron. Where the sun shone through the trees it lit up part of the water, and the heron giving an almost magical back/side light.
