This female bufflehead just caught a fish! There was a very soft drizzle of rain as she swam in the river diving underwater then coming up with a small fish secure in her beak. The bufflehead is North America's smallest diving duck. Their average size length 14.5 inches, average weight 1 pound. The drakes are larger than the females.
