After hearing the calls and drumming sounds of a Pileated Woodpecker, I was pleased to find it way up a tree at the beginning of it's drilling a hole. It was chipping at the wood & pecking away, taking an occasional break. It was fascinating that in less than thirty minutes it created the hole pictured. The Pileated is the largest living woodpecker in North America.
