It was pretty awesome to watch a murder (group) of crows mobbing a red-tailed hawk, and close enough to actually crop it's wing with my long lens. The main reason crows attack hawks is that hawks are seen as a threat. Crows are intelligent birds, and are quick to defend their territory, nests, & nestlings.
