Image Details:

I was driving my car around 12:26 pm on Saturday as I went out to pick up a carry-out lunch, and two blocks away from home I saw this green iguana crawling into the sidewalk. This specimen is similar to one I photographed nearly four months ago [see ECP #51154] at exactly the same location just across a baseball park, but this one looked more mature, measuring just over a meter long. Green iguanas (Iguana iguana) can display a variety of colors, like this one which sports an orange hue throughout its spines and legs. These iguanas are seasoned tree climbers, and a couple of seconds after I took this photograph the animal ran away and quickly jumped into a nearby tree.
