First Lightning.
An early incursion of warm moist tropical air from the ITCZ after nightfall on Sunday 23 October resulted in the first thunderstorm and lightning of the 2022 rainy season in the vicinity of Transmitter Hill in Mutare. Most consisted of cloud-to-cloud anvil crawlers accompanied by frequent dull rumbles of thunder and very little rain. This type of weather is usually only experienced from mid-November onwards so it is possible that we are going to have a more stormy start to the rainy season than usual.
