Three meteors, myriad stars and the Milky Way adorn the sky on a clear, windy night. A little late in September but they still could be part of the Perseid meteor shower. Shooting stars are seen whenever one of the pieces of debris left behind in the wake of comets and asteroids collides with the Earth's atmosphere, typically burning up at an altitude of around 70 to 100 km.
