Image Details:

A great blue heron high up on a tree. I took a quite few shots so I can have a photo of him with his eyes open since he was resting with his eyes closed. The great blue heron is one of the most widespread and familiar waterbirds in Oregon. It is the largest heron in North America, standing approximately four feet tall. Though he is a fairly common to common resident throughout the state, it's still always a delightful surprise to see the blue heron.
