I think this is a fogbow. I saw one in the morning earlier this year when there was actually low fog on the ground but this was sunset tonight with a few scattered clouds. At first I thought I was seeing anti-crepuscular rays because the same thing was behind me in the east but it looked more like cloud than a sunbeam. When I shot a few panos from east to west with my iPhone I realized it was probably a fogbow (I could see the "bow" in the sky with my eyes once I knew it was there, it's not produce soley by the pano). I'm glad I was outside at the right moment. BTW, the first quarter moon, several hours old, is in the shot too.
