September 3, 2022, the first Saturday in Sept. each year, is International Vulture Awareness Day. Vultures are an ecologically vital group of birds. Populations of many species are under pressure & some species are facing extinction. Coincidentally a couple of days ago I spotted two Turkey vultures on a tower at a distance. I was surprised when a third one flew in & started feeding the two. I realized the two were juveniles. I've seen this with many birds & raptors, but never with a vultures.
