Image Details:

After heading to the cape at around 1am, and setting up at Banana Creek around 5am, the golden twilight of an impending sunrise illuminated the turbulent skies as liquid oxygen and hydrogen filled the tanks of Artemis 1 on launch pad 39b of Kennedy Space Center/Cape Canaveral. Gas overflow was burned off at the base of the superstructure causing waves of heat distortion across the deep purple clouds. Additionally, the patrolling NASA Airbus H135 helicopter can be seen flying off into the sunrise.

Ultimately an issue with engine 3 and bad weather would scrub the mission, but it was an amazing morning all the same, and NASA will attempt the launch again soon in the next launch window, likely 9/2/22.
