A Great Blue Heron Preening. He spent an inordinate time preening on the rocky cliff, his hiding place, where I caught sight of him by chance. In the photos he looks like he is honing on his dance moves. It is one of the most widespread and familiar waterbirds in Oregon and the largest heron in North America, standing approximately four feet tall.
