Hehuan Mountain

Hehuan Mountain (also called Joint-Joy Mountain) in Central Taiwan is situated atop a 11,207-feet (3,416 m) peak, at the west of Taroko National Park. The mountain is a popular destination in Taiwan, being the only resort area on the island above the 3,000-meter level that is directly accessible by highway. Visitors can stay in Qingjing (Cingjing) and easily access the mountain and forest trails. Hehuan Mountain achieved recognition as an International Dark Sky Park with the International Dark-Sky Association in 2019, and the site is far away from the glow of over-lit urban areas, achieving a rating about class 3 in the Bortle Dark-Sky scale. Because of the elevation, the weather can be cold and even snowy in winter.
