EarthSky weather blogger in Final Four of national weather forecasting competition
Matt Daniel – of Matt Daniel’s WeatherGlobe at EarthSky.org – finished in the Final Four in 2013 in a national weather forecasting contest, WxChallenge.
The challenge is to forecast the maximum and minimum temperatures, precipitation, and maximum wind speeds for select U.S. cities. Over a 20-week period in late 2012 and 2013, over 2,000 participants competed against top student and faculty meteorologists for honors as the top weather forecaster in North America.
This is the fourth year in a row that Matt has been a top 100 weather forecaster in the nation in the WxChallenge.
His name will be posted on the WxChallenge site, and he’ll receive a trophy for the Final Four in the national tournament.
Check out the WxChallenge scores. Matt’s name during the challenge is dawg22. The lower the error points for the names, the better the score.
