Jupiter Opposition 2023 with Bonus Io Transit.
I can't tell you how long I waited for this moment to come and it came with great seeing. I waited months and months for this shot. Io is transiting its own shadow as seen from Earth because Jupiter's system is exactly opposite of the sun from us. To see the Jovian moons eclipse their own shadows are a rare treat. I sat with music, watching and capturing live view you can see the crescent shadow. It was truly a wonderful night. I captured 35 SER files each 60 seconds long and picked the best 15 which were near the beginning of the session. The final result is this. You can see a lot of details in this image. Polar vortexes on the North, a nice red spot coming into view lower left and of course Io, the Volcanic moon of Jupiter.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy!
