The first monsoon storm of the summer season 2023 rolled yesterday/July 2nd through our Wet Mountain Valley, a very large valley in South-Central -Colorado. With an elevation of almost 8,000 ft and surrounded by nine 14,000ft+ peaks within the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range to the West and the 12,000 ft+ high Wet Mountains to the East, this valley frequently produces its own weather systems. Just like last evening, when suddenly a thunderstorm literally exploded shortly before sunset. This image shows a double rainbow, created by the setting sun with a lightning bolt in the second rainbow, spanning from the dark, moisture-laden cloud to the valley floor.
