Goliad State Park and Historic Site
November 14, 2017
The Goliad State Park complex is located on the San Antonio River, 90 miles (145 km) southeast of San Antonio. This historic site was once frequented by Native Americans, Spanish explorers, missionaries, Texian soldiers and early settlers, and contains a restoration of the Spanish Colonial Era Mission of Nuestra Señora del Espíritu Santo de Zuñiga. Now a place for hiking, camping, picnicking, nature studies and historical study, as well as stargazing: “The historical war walls give you a wide open space to view clear skies and see all the stars.” says an EarthSky reader.
