We called them lightning bugs when I was a kid. Maybe that’s a midwestern thing …

Zak Michaels shot these lightning bugs – that is, fireflies – in Vevay, Indiana. Zak said:

I made this image by taking 100 or so photos of the same scene and blending them to make all the fireflies from each photo appear.
