For nearly four years, Pimu led a group of chimpanzees near lake Tanganyika in Tanzania. His rule came to a violent end after starting a fight with the second ranking male. The male fled the scene, but four other chimps stepped in and took down Pimu, biting his hands and feet. Although behavior such as this is rare, it does happen from time to time.
