Ruislip Lido is a reservoir and artificial beach in Ruislip, Hillingdon. It is located in west London, surrounded by Ruislip Woods, a National Nature Reserve. A narrow-gauge railway runs around the reservoir.
An EarthSky friend says of this place: “For many in London, it is a great stargazing place with as little light pollution as you can get. It is always open to the public even during the night and you can visit it on public transport. It has a car park, so bring your equipment if you want. Occasional stargazing events are held in the lido with telescopes and experts. Disclaimer: It is in London so do not expect to see the Milky Way or faint stars.”
