This image shows the Blanca Massif, an alpine wonderland in Southern Colorado. Part of the Southern Rockies with four 14,000+ft peaks stacked among the dramatic massif, the mountain range is a dream destination for hardcore mountaineers from around the globe. Visible from great distances and considered sacred by Native Americans, for a short time around spring equinox, the massif becomes extraordinarily beautiful, when the sun rises with the perfect angle and paints the granite faces in brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow.
