Pixinsight with BlurX, NoiseX, StarX, Stacked and Stretched

This is IC447 or "Dreyer's Nebula". In one of the few fairly clear nights of early 2024, imaged over 4 hours with 5 minute exposures. IC447 is a reflection nebula surrounded by complex dark nebulosities. It is named after John Dreyer who published our familiar New General Catalog (NGC) though he wasn't the discoverer, credit to which Mitchell is given from his observations in January 1857. Dark Nebulae structures fascinated E.E. Barnard during the earliest astrophotography efforts. At the time, these dark structures were debated as either shadowing objects from view or, almost frighteningly, voids in space.

This image was obtained through a 547mm SVBony SV503/102ED refractor with a .7 flattener/reducer in Bortle 7 skies between Milwaukee, Wi and Chicago, Il.
