By happenstance a few months ago, I saw a group of great blue herons up the trees near the estuary. In my mind I named the location "Where The Blue Herons Live." I have gone there a few times since then and they're not always there. Luckily this day they were present! I don't know if they will nest here or it's just their favorite place to perch and rest. I read that a heronry can have anywhere from 5 to 500 nests.
