In the town of Waimea of the Big Island, there is a stand of Cherry Blossom trees. Every year, people celebrate the flowering of the cherry blossoms by hosting a cherry blossom heritage festival. In Japan, this art of observing and appreciating the blooms is called Hanami. The celecbrations starts next week on February 3. The blooms normally last for
about 8 days. These trees came from Okinawa.
