I was driving home near sunset and was so surprised to see this solar pillar that I pulled off the road and behind a gas station to take a photo from the driver's seat of my car. The sky was so brilliant that it reflected off the car hood--see the lower section of the photo. This sunset lasted nearly an hour. The temperature was in the low 20s ℉.
