Male Downy Woodpecker feeding on suet - beef tallow, various seeds and peanut butter. More peanut butter is smeared in the cracks of the tree trunk. The birds love the peanut butter for the flavor, fats and protein especially during the cold weather and when naturally foraged food is under the snow and ice.
