These lenticular clouds hint that strong winds are expected in a few hours. In fact, the forecast is calling for winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts to 70 mph by noon. Taken during calm winds with temperature at 15F.
As an interesting side note, the dark mound on the horizon just right of center may be Pikes Peak, some 163 miles (bearing 185 degs) from my house. This is supported as a possibility at: www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/panoramas/AME/PIKE-N.gif
Strong temperature inversions can help view distant objects provided that the line of sight is not obstructed. Interesting!
