This aurora arrived late, but that gave our heavy local cloud cover time to gradually disperse. I particularly love the interplay of auroral color with clouds – watercolor perfection!

Our sun has been quite busy in 2023 with one glorious aurora after another. I take hundreds of photos of these things and have finally started doing something creative with them!

I made a time-lapse of the Dec. 18 aurora, with an impromptu a capella song, viewable on YouTube. This is my first time-lapse, so kind of a proof-of-concept video. I think I'll make more of these, with a wee bit more musical refinement. I've got some painting plans based on my aurora pics, too.

With the sun rolling on toward the peak of its 25-year activity cycle, it's going to be a busy 2024!
