Image Details:

Not the most attractive bird, but I have found a new respect for the Turkey Vulture. They are very important for human & ecosystem health, feeding on carrion (deteriorating carcasses), disposing of it efficiently. Their very acidic stomachs have strong enzymes that kill off dangerous toxins and microorganisms, helping to curb the spread of dangerous disease. This one was posing for me before flying down to a hawks leftovers.
