A carpet of red tulips: this place, located in Sicily, is painted with red every year; its peculiarity is due to the spontaneous flowering of the tulips, which falls close to spring, around mid-March and early April, with the maximum luxuriance lasting for about two weeks.
This species of tulips is called early tulip (Tulipa Raddii),
characterized by an early blossoming compared to that of the municipality
tulip on the market: for these reasons it is not
possible to accurately estimate each individual
flowering since, being a tulip
untreated and spontaneous, it is influenced
of climatic conditions.
