Image Details:

Moonrise under the Milky Way core . . . over the Catskill Mountains, at 4:30 this morning. The 20% crescent just clearing the horizon wasn't so bright that it would blow out the stars, so we get to see this magical combination of the moon and our galaxy's blazing center.

The camera was at the head of Bragg Hollow, Halcottsville, NY — looking southeast toward Belleayre, Eagle, Graham, and Balsam Mountains.
