Lunt 40mm hydrogen alpha solar telescope, Player Apollo Mini-M camera, SkyWatcher Star Adventurer mount

Post-processing Details:

600 frames (best of 3000) of video were stacked with AutoStakkert, IMPPG was used for curves and sharpening, additional post-processing with PhotoShop and PhotoScape X. Image is inverted to show greater detail.

Image Details:

This hydrogen alpha image of the Sun that was captured today shows only a few small prominences. However, multiple sunspots (white due to the image being inverted to enhance detail) and filaments are visible. The largest of the sunspot groups (AR3226 in the upper left) was the site of a magnetic filament associated with a coronal mass ejection that is likely to hit the Earth.
