Orion and Mars over the Qasr Ibrim (Ibrim's Palace )
Egypt, Nov 2022

Due to its remoteness and requirement for a private boat, it is one of the few locations in Egypt where photography is difficult to do, day or night.

Qasr Ibrim is an archaeological site in Lower Nubia, 240 km from Aswan and 50 km from Sudan. The walled city occupies a rocky hill overlooking the Nile, on its eastern shore. It extends over the site of Anibah, the seat of the provincial governor.

The high waters of Lake Nasser, after the establishment of the High Dam in Aswan, turned the place into an island, and flooded the surrounding areas.

This fort is considered old, as it dates back to the Romans. At that time, it was called Bremen Parva, and some of the Ethiopians were holed up in it during their revolution against the Romans in 23 BC.
