The weather hasn’t been the best lately for photographing the night sky, but Christmas Bird Counts and feeder watching provide a source of entertainment. We have been lucky to host 2 species of Nuthatch this year at our feeders in New Jersey. Top, a White-Breasted Nuthatch and Below, a more uncommon visitor to New Jersey, Red-Breasted Nuthatch. They’re both very peaceful species and both have similar behaviors, in that, they will sit atop our archway and wait patiently for their turn at the feeder. I love watching them so much, and hearing their nasal calls!
