Sprites or transient luminous effects are phenomena that occur above storm clouds simultaneous with a powerful cloud to ground lightning. I spent five days with a master sprite chaser roaming mostly in Texas in search of dark skies, open fields and the clouds producing these phenomena. It is estimated that this sprite was about 130 miles away. (They are huge.)
