This image, taken about a week before the 2022 Summer Solstice, shows the Sun sinking below the western horizon on Lake Ontario. There is evident refractive distortion, though not the usual hourglass shape. Furthermore, there later appeared a bright, narrow band of light on the surface of the water of about the same width as the Sun (~0.56°) that persisted for some time after the Sun was down. I am not sure of its origin. Can somebody explain it to me?
