Image Details:

Cobweb or cobwebby thistle growing near the ocean. The gossamer cobwebs laced around the flower are not spider webs. The long spined flowers produce the fibers that resemble cobwebs. The cobweb thistle, unlike other thistles, is not a troublesome weed. I have noted other kinds of thistles in our area but this is the first time I have seen the cobweb thistle.
