Beautiful Ned's Point Lighthouse overlooking Buzzards Bay in Mattapoisett (MA) graced by a waning gibbous moon; constructed in 1838 from stones obtained from nearby beaches. The original fuel for the lantern was whale oil. The design called for 11 oil lamps; each with its own parabolic light reflector. In 1857 it was upgraded with a Fresnel lens.
